The Book Hat and The Red Suitcase continue to shine

Rowland H copyWe’re excited to announce that The Book of Hat by Harriet Rowland has been shortlisted in the NZ Book Awards for Children and Young Adults, and The Red Suitcase by Jill Harris is shortlisted in the Children’s Choice section of those awards.

Both books are also shortlisted in the LIANZA Awards, winners announced on Monday. The Book of Hat has also won a Notable Book Award (Storylines) and was runner-up in the Ashton Wylie Awards. Both books also have something else in common, their authors died in 2014 from cancer. Harriet was 20 and Jill 74. We at Mākaro Press feel privileged to have worked with these talented and determined women.
